How to use the map

1. Choose when your project will be placed in service (top bar). Each period uses the energy community list in effect at that time.
2. Type the project address in the search box and pick a suggestion, or click 📍 Drop a pin and click the site on the map.
3. The panel shows the overall result and a pass/fail checklist for each category.
4. Switch the period at any time. The same location is checked again automatically.

Reading the result

• Likely Qualifies The site meets at least one energy community category.
• Potentially Qualifies The site may qualify (for example near a brownfield) and needs further evaluation.
• Not Likely to Qualify The site does not meet any category for the selected period.

Energy community categories

• Brownfield: a site defined as a brownfield under CERCLA. Shown locations are approximate and need a site-specific evaluation.
• Statistical area: an MSA or non-MSA with 0.17% or greater direct fossil fuel employment (or 25% or greater local tax revenue from fossil fuels) and an unemployment rate at or above the national average for the previous year.
• Coal closure: a census tract (or a directly adjoining tract) where a coal mine closed after Dec. 31, 1999 or a coal-fired generating unit was retired after Dec. 31, 2009.
